Due to the development of new relevant features of defects in the weld zone of
oil and gas pipes, the probability of correct classification of spherical pores and slags
is increased.
A method for determining the geometric dimensions of lack of penetration
according to the groove standard of sensitivity on radiographic images of welds is
developed. The efficiency of its application is confirmed and the relative
measurement errors are established.
A method of noise-tolerant structure-adaptive segmentation of the joint of two
elements in the system of automatic control of their electron beam welding has been
developed, which allows to present the joint trajectory in analytical form, thus
providing increased accuracy of trajectory reproduction.
A number of methods for segmentation of characteristic elements of metal
fractures and calculation of their ratio is proposed. The type of fracture is a criterion
for assessing the quality of the metal. According to the degree of metal deformation,
fractures are divided into brittle, viscous and quasi-brittle.
Studies have shown the usefulness of the texture feature of homogeneity based
on the co-occurrence matrix for the segmentation of fractographic images. However,
the size of the processing window and the size of the small objects to be removed
may affect the results of the proposed method of allocating brittle and viscous
fracture zones.
The method of subgrain contour detection of low-alloy steel of steam lines of
thermal power plants is developed on the basis of the watershed method, which
allows to automate the process of quantitative analysis of subgrains according to their
metallographic image.
A number of methods for segmentation of characteristic elements of oxide
ceramic and laser-modified alloy coatings is proposed. Diagnostic features are the
ratio of the area of pores to the surface area and pore size.
An express method for determining the number and size of surface defects in
oxide ceramic coatings by optical photographs of the surface is proposed and
substantiated. It uses a multi-scale function to localize and further segment the
